I became a seller on eBay almost entirely by chance. I had accidentally thrown away some collectable porcelain bears, and I was desperate to replace them. So I searched eBay, and I think it's absolutely amazing that somebody happened to be selling the same bears. I had fun looking for them, and it occurred to me that I could probably make a little extra money by selling on eBay too. I liked the idea of taking on the big boys and offering my items to millions of buyers without having to gather them all up in one place myself. When my husband was diagnosed with Leukemia, I left my full-time job, and concentrated on the work I was doing with my eBay business. The independence I have because of selling on eBay has allowed me to be able to take him to Doctor's appointments, and to spend more time with him.

I try to bring in new buyers by offering free shipping, starting some of my auctions at lower prices, and offering "buy it now" items. It may seem obvious, but I never forget that my customers are the most important thing to my business. They are my paycheck.
